Hippotherapy
Hippotherapy is the purposeful manipulation of equine movement as a therapy tool to engage sensory, neuromotor and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes as an evidence-based intervention tool in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Speech Pathology.
A horse’s movement is multi-dimensional which globally impacts the neurophysiology of the human. The rhythmic, low-amplitude, consistent movement of the horse can be purposefully manipulated to address a range of system impairments. (AHA Inc. 2019)
